REQUEST FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

TO DESIGN A SYSTEM FOR MONITORING AND EVALUATION FOR THE
SUSTAINABLE MANAGEMENT OF MINERAL RESOURCES PROJECT

 

1. The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania has received financing from the
   International Development Association (IDA) towards the cost of implementing the
   Sustainable Management of Mineral Resources Project (SMMRP), and intends to apply
   part of the proceeds for consulting services. The services include preparation of a
   monitoring and evaluation system for SMMRP.


2. A monitoring and Evaluation system is prepared to assist the Project Management Team
   in capturing Project progress data and use the data for monitoring of resource inputs,
   expenditures, deliverables, outputs, and outcomes (both physical and non-physical) of
   SMMRP activities from start to finish. SMMRP will also periodically use the system to
   evaluate the project outcomes for relevance, reliability, cost-effectiveness,
   appropriateness, sustainability and impacts.


3. The Ministry of Energy and Minerals now invites eligible consultants to indicate their
   interest in preparation of a monitoring and evaluation system for SMMRP. Interested
   consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the
   services (brochures, description of similar assignments, experience in similar conditions,
   availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc.). The consultants are highly encouraged
   to team-up with local firms to take advantage of local expertise.


4. A consultant will be selected in accordance with the procedures set out in the World
   Bank’s Guidelines: Selection and Employment of Consultants by World Bank Borrowers
   (current edition).


5. Expressions       of     interest     (in     sealed       envelopes      clearly    marked
   “ME/008/2009/2010/HQ/C/07 Expression of Interest- Designing a System for
   monitoring and evaluation
” should be submitted in five copies (one original) to the
   address below.


6. Interested consultants may obtain further information at the address below during office
   hours from 0900 to 1500 hours East African Time.


7. Expression of interest must be delivered to the address below by 31st December 2009,
   1000 hours East African Time.
